Visiting Culebra very soon
Culebra, Puerto Rico

We are excited to get a chance and visit Culebra for a week! We picked Kokomo, well because its very inexpensive, and we are just looking for a place to spend the night and have our own bathroom for 6-7nights.

Being this is our first time to Culebra or PR in general, i have few questions:

1. Internet? Are there internet cafes on the island?
2. Who does island tours, if there are any?
3. Is it safe to just walk around the island?
4. Night life in Dewey, close to Kokomo?
5. Is it better to take publicos or water taxis to the different beaches?

This website is great! Thank you everyone.

Night Life?! - Have you read this website? Get all the night life in San Juan and then relax in Culebra!

Culebra Wireless is your best bet.

Publicos only go to Flamenco. Some of the others are served by water taxis and some you will need a car.

Enjoy Culebra!

Michael

Safe? absolutely.

night life? I'm reminded of the guy inquiring about "gentlemen's clubs" about a year ago.

night life consists of hanging out and maybe a local band will play at Mamacita's or disco at el Batey. then you go home and read (or monitor turtle season if making notes at 3 in the morning under flashlight is your thing).

whatever there is to find is very close to Kokomo.

hahah thank you guys

sorry about the confusion on the "night life"
my husband and I are not party people, i guess i should've used a different word.
yes we are going to culebra to relax and enjoy, we like to kick it back at a bar with a drink and listen to some music, have some food etc. so culebra is the perfect place for us.
i look forward to being away from the daily busy lives we have here and go out in nature by the water. we need some peace and quite.

thank you michael and richard for the replies. i hope to come back with a great experience and share it with the others.

if you can rent a jeep (I suggest Carlos Jeep Rental) it is the best way to explore the island and get to all the beaches.

I know that Pandeli has a computer for e-mail retrieval. As far as night life is concerned, there is none. Your best bet is to hang out at Mamacitas or the Dinghy Dock for drinks after dinner. The island is virtually crime free but don't get careless and take your safety for granted. You can take publicos to Flamenco but for the other remote beaches you will need to rent a car. When I rent on the island I usually rent from Carlos Jeep Rental. They are more expensive but they have a very up to date fleet of jeeps and they have an office at the airport.
