The Municipio and the Authority of Conservation and Development of Culebra are going to celebrate public hearings regarding the privatization of Culebra beach accesses on January 17,2007 at 5:00pm in Centre for Multiple Uses building. This is your opportunity to let our government know we don’t want any more aobstacles in any access to Culebra beaches. Our government is responsible of protecting our right to have equal access to the beaches.

The good news is! There was a hearing yesterday where Victor Gonzales failed to appear...the upshot being, he has NO rights to build ANYTHING where he put up the blockage and must remove it. He has 30 days to appeal, but it will do him no good, the law clearly states (now that they got around to looking at the law) that access to any beach is the right of the people. I don't know if there is any bad news ;)
(thanks Doug, I just sat there straining to understand the Spanish, but the lawyer from Culebra kindly gave us the good news in English as well as Spanish!) The meeting was VERY well attended and that was exciting as well, a nice mix of locals and gringos, focused on the love of Culebra. Sweet!

Maricarmen, and Lourdes!!! Thank you so much for the correction. It didn't sound quite like Maricarmen but...it was a loudspeaker and a good message. The slow way of speaking helped me understand it so much.
We'll be on the ferry tomorrow. So much hope, so much good. Culebra...tranquillo!!!
