Anyone been to Culebra in May?
Culebra, Puerto Rico

I am looking for anyone that has been to Culebra in May.

I will be traveling to Culebra this year in the middle of May, and would like to know what to expect when it comes to the typical weather, and typical crowds. It will be the weekend of mothers day, but is that really a holiday that the island will be effected by? Also we will be there from Sunday to Sunday, if that helps when it comes to the crowds.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help out, if you want you can email me direct kat062004@yahoo.com

Memorial Day weekend is bigger. expect day trippers on the weekends, but should be fairly quiet otherwise.

weather's pretty much the same year-round.

I was there in May of '05 and it was quite hot -90's every day. This was due in some measure to the fact that the trades were practically calm. I can't tell you if that is typical for May or if it was just the way things were that week.

I was in Culebra during May of 06. We had short rainshowers, like 5 minutes long during the day, and then it rained during the night a few days. Temps were upper 80's to low 70's. The crowds were thin all over, and a few places only open on weekends, like Heathers Pizza, and the bar at our hotel (Club Seaborne).

Actually, Mother's Day is a big day on Culebra, but not in the tourist sense. The first day I spent here was Mother's Day and I was on the ferry with families coming over to be with their mother or paint graves of mother's or grandmother's. It was really wonderful. Of course, the graveyard is not on the usual list of *spots to hang out* which is a good thing. But it is our *Vision of the Future* as the sign says...

Was in Culebra in December and was very disappointed to see the "Vision of The Future" sign had been taken down. Does this mean death is not inevitable? Or that the government is no longer touting this project/upgrade :-)
