Question about Bringing Pets to Culebra
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hello everyone,

I have been to Culebra many times over, but this year is the first that we have an additional member of the family that we would like join us on our vacation. We have a small to medium size dog (Jack Russell Terrier). Has anyone ever brought their pet on their vacation? We usually take him everywhere; he's literally been with us in planes, trains, and automobiles. On the plane he flies with us as part of our carry-on. He truly is more like an actual child than a doggie, and while I am almost 100% sure we couldn't bring him to Flamenco beach (no pets allowed), there are other beaches where we would love to see him play in the sand. Any advice on how to make this work? Thanks a bunch!

(Si su ingles no es muy bueno, bienvenidos a contestar en espanol...gracias!)

I took my cat with me last week to Culebra! It was her first time on a plane, train, taxi, etc. She did fine, and after a couple of days was totally into the relaxation of Culebra. I think she wanted to have a chicken for lunch though (don't we all after listening to that for a couple of days?) LOL!

Zoni Beach is dog friendly - all the locals take their dogs there. I don't know if it was the tides (it was a full moon), or the time of year, but last week Zoni (Flamenco too actually) was not as wide as normal. Still plenty of room for the dogs to run. I've also seen dogs at the beach at Soldier's Point, but that beach is not as feet-friendly.

You should check your accomodations to be sure they allow pets. Good luck - it was sure fun for us to have our cat with us.

Happy Diving!
Debbie

Thanks for the response Debbie. It would be his first time at the beach. He just had his first snow in Denver last weekend. I'm excited.

Does anyone have any idea about pet-friendly accomodations; particularly you Michael if you read this? He is a very, very clean dog. I'd say most kids are messier than he is ;)
