I know that there are a few airlines that fly from PR to Culebera but I would love to hear some opinions on which are the best. Also do you find it better to fly from San Juan or Isla Grande. Thanks!

HI we flew from ISLA Grande and on VAL (vieques air link)
On the way over we had the plane to ourselves and the pilot and we were lucky enough to have him detour and take us through the rainforest nad other smaller islands. He of course asked us if we wouldn't mind and who wouldn't mind a chance like that.

They were awesome coming home too because we had a full flight they even got us out on time and allowed my husband and i to make a run really quick to the bakery while they were packing up the plane with lugagge.

Good luck
Gina

For speed, the Isla Nena Grand Caravan is the champ. But on a route where the 'slow' Brittany Islanders that the others use only takes 30 minutes, the additional speed is not important - in fact a little more time for sightseeing is a plus! Other than that, I have the greatest admiration for all the pilots who fly into Culebra. As we land, I always think of the phrase, "Trained professionals. Do not try this at home!" The three different approaches I have experienced were each made possible, in part, by my pre-boarding cocktails!

I had a great experience with Air Flamenco. They had scheduled flights from Isla Grande in October. Isla Grande is the much nicer airport.

The flights were $50 each way plus a small charge for overweight luggage.

The plane trips were fun too -- one of the highlights of the whole trip, along with bicycling all around Culebra, and snorkeling at Carlos Rosario.

Kathryn, since my mother lives in the mainland, I have always rented a car at the San Juan airport and driven to the airport in Fajardo which is about an hour from moms house. The flight from their is about 15 minuts and is $50.00 roundtrip

Allan,

Where did you get the bicycles?
