Inflatable Kayaks
Culebra, Puerto Rico

My friends and I will be traveling to Culebra right after Easter and we're looking to do some kayaking. In particular, we'd like to go to Cayo Luis Pena. For those who have done the trek in kayak, what time of the day are the waters the calmest? Also, has anyone done this trip using an INFLATABLE kayak? Is it safe to use inflatables versus fiber glass in the ocean? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Regards, EE

That highly depends on the quality of the kayaks - there're inflatables and then there're inflatables ..

Enjoy Culebra!

The http://folding-canoe.com/ ones are partially inflatable and VERY good, but I am biased, since I am the distirbutor of them for the US.

I suggest you do some reading online and maybe check the baidarka mailing list which has a ton of resources.

happy paddling

Enjoy Culebra!

Michael -

Have you ever scuba dived or snorkeled off a kayak?

Happy Diving!
