I'm not sure which one I want to go to!!! What are the pros and cons to both islands?

both are gorgeous, but different, at some point, you must visit both. I prefer Culebra, but becasue I am a quiet vacation kind of guy. It is more quiet and smaller. Friendlier in my opinion as well. Both have great snorkeling, fantastic beaches, but Culebra has the edge.

WHy? Fewer people usually is a plus for me. Easier to contact marine life due to ease of snorkeling from shore. better access to wildlife including turtlewatch, which is awesome.

Vieques however offers Phosphorescent bay - which you must do someday. Worth the trip all by itself. Also great beaches. It also offers better roads and more choices for eating and everything else.

Make your choice on how quiet a trip you are looking for...if more quiet, start with Culebra and hit Vieques next time. If a bit more activity is desired, reverse the order.

In my opinion, Gary has a good point.

Thanks for all the information! We are looking for a quiet vacation so I think I might be leaning towards Culebra.

FOra quiet location, I can recommend Harbour View Villas - it's not cheap though, but sits on top of hill overlooking the harbor and vieques about 1/2 mile from town. there are 3 villas all angled away from wach other so very nice privacy (but not total) It is a bit rustic - no A/C, opn air and such but sitting on the deck overlooking sardinas bay and luis pena is a supreme way to spend part of the trip when you're not on the beach or elsewhere.
