Doug,

I am sure you are correct. The mooring balls are put in to protect the coral. They are all over the Virgins. Use to be free at St. Johns now we pay $15.00 per day. Worth every penny to protect the beauty of the area. If there are balls on the west side that usually also means it is safe for overnight anchorage.. we like swinging on a ball much better than a anchor. Looks like we will be giving the West side the nod rather than going up Ensenoda Honda.
