One night and two days in Culebra
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hi,
I was looking for some recommendations for a place to stay for one night at the end of april during the week, for two people. I am looking to rent a car for two days and check out as much as possible. I am most interested in a rustic experience, snorkling, and taking alot of photographs. I would like a nice but affordable place to stay. I have found that alot of places are only renting by the week. Any suggestions ?
Thanks
Lauren

Most places do rent for a week.
If you go Monday-Friday, you might get one night.
Check Villa Boheme, Villa Fulladosa, Casa Ensenada, or Hotel Puerto Rico.
The firsts ones are very good, Hotel Puerto RIco, is not the best but is " cheap " Close to 70.00, the others vary 80.00 to 125.00.
Casa Ensenada has small boats for rent, close to 175.00 per day, you have to call them.
Anyway, most of them are listed in this forum, just to make sure they will be available, and better make reservation.

My husband and I spent 2 nights at Casa Ensenada in January. The large room was very clean and it had a small but complete kitchen. This place is on the Ensenada Honda with great views and a nice place to sit and enjoy the scenery. We rented a small boat from Culebra Boat Rentas (Butch, one of the owners of the guest house, has the boats right there at the dock at Casa Ensenada. I was a little iffy at first about taking such a small boat, a 16 foot Carolina Skiff, out into what I consider big water. But the boat handled great and was very well maintained. We had no problems with it. We anchored off of Culebrita and waded ashore. We had that island to ourselves. It was the highlight of our trip-we had been to San Juan and St. Thomas before we arrived on Culebra. If you want to explore the island of Culebra you probably should rent a vehicle.

Posada la Hamaca is a very nice, but not extravegant, guest house. Last time I stayed there, a room for two was about $60 a night. Small but charming rooms, and a small clean bathroom. Outdoor shower to wash off the beach-sand and complimentary ice and beach towels. Next door to Mamacitas and a stone's throw from Dinghy Dock.
