Best beaches for kids?
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Thank you for this forum, I have learned so much. Our family of four is headed to beautiful Culebra in a week. We were there last year and discovered some great places - i.e. Zoni and Flamenco. Zoni was georgeous but a bit rough at the time and Flamenco was great. This year we want to explore more. Any other suggestions for other beaches that have shallow, calm, and clear areas for our boys (both under 10). Thanks again.

Rossario. Drive into Flamenco parking lot and take the path to the left (West). 10 minute hike to other side with nices beaches. Should also be out of the wind. Forget Brava and Resaca. Face the North with large swells.

Tamarindo works well for children also.

I would also like to mention Culebrita. The beaches are gorgeous and the water calm and clear. You have to get a boat ride there, we went with Captain Sebastian. Also need to pack lunch, water, and sun screen and perhaps a little sun tent for the kids. It's beautiful.

What was the cost for the water taxi? How did it work? Thanks for the info!

My kids learned to snorkel as babies on Culebra 12 years ago and we go every year. The most memorable experience for us was hiring a ride to Luis Pena when they were really little. If you catch the right day you'll have the most beautiful cove to yourselves with snorkeling feet from shore. If they're up for the hike, Carlos Rosario is great snorkeling, but to see the best stuff you have to venture with them pretty far out...follow the trail on the map posted on the big sign on the beach. Gorgeous but definitely a parent required who is a strong swimmer, at least IMO. Closer in there is stuff too, but the best is out further, 15' deep or so. Bring water and lunch or at least snacks, and try not to do the hike mid day, it can be hot for the little guys.

If you go to Zoni again, go down to the right. Great spots for kids and if it's calm there is snorkling...we've seen rays and Octopus there.

Thank you all! This year we spend lots of time on Tamarindo. Loved that we could park close to the beach. Snorkeling was definitely the highlight our our trip and we saw some great fish just off shore. Our little guy paddled around with a pool noodle under his arms and it was perfect.
