Hello everyone,
It´s good to be on this forum. I have been reading it for a couple of years, and now, finally, it seems I will make it to Culebra!
Me and my friend are planning a trip to Culebra in August (8/8-8/20) and I would highly appreciate getting some feedback from those who have been there several times or actually live there (even better). I know it is hurricane season but I have read that most wet/rainy months are May, October and November. Is that right? But there´s still the hurricane talk. The last one that hit the island was in 1998 with minimal damage but what can you guys tell us? How does this season usually turn out in the islands? How is the weather and how can it affect the island?
Our main concern, however, is the rain. On a scale of 1 to 10, where would you set the probability of raining during a 13 day stay in August? Could you or is it a complete lottery? And what sort of rain are we talking about? Monsoon/Asia-like, very heavy rain or quick rain-sunshine-light rain again-sunshine again sort of thing? How much could the August summer rain spoil outdoor activities and usually for how long? Basically, is it worth risking a trip from Europe or is the probability of getting stranded (due to the rain) inside your hotel/inn or hanging at the local joint for days & nights way too high?
I´m so sorry for asking these (certainly silly for you) questions. I know you have been asked time and again but we really need to know. We would enormously appreciate your best possible answer, the sooner the better as we must book our tickets asap!
Thanks a bunch from NYC and Barcelona!
