Weather & Cash
Culebra, Puerto Rico

My fiance and I will be flying into Culebra on Tuesday (2/23). We are going to be camping at Flamenco Beach. I have been checking the weather on various sites and they don't seem to be matching up. It does look like there has been some rain this month. Do the storms tend to last a long time, or are they usually short showers? Any suggestions on extra gear to bring?
Also, do the kiosks at the beach only accept cash? What about other establishments in town? We are just trying to figure out much cash to bring.
Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

February is one of the driest months on Culebra. This month just a few passing showers have occurred. If it rains it usually passes in 15 minutes.

Re: cash. The vendors accept cash at the beach kiosks although one or two accept plastic. Food at kiosks runs $2.50 for a chicken pincho, $2 or a beer and up to $10 for fresh fish. In town all establishments accept visa/mc. There is a bank near ferry dock with a 24 hour cash machine so you can replenish your cash there. The fee is $2.50 per withdrawal. I dont usually carry that much cash around.

Have fun

The weather websitesare amazingly deceptive regarding our local weather. They will feature a grey unhappy scowling face through consistently fair bright skies. IGNORE THEM. They seem to have a high fallibility rating. There has not been a totally grey wet day here in 6 weeks, and even then, they were RARE.

As far as cash, I believe there are a couple places outside Flamenco that only accept cash: Heather's (pizzeria), Susie's, Barbara Rosa's and Juanita Banana's.
