1st time to Culebra. Need Help!!
Culebra, Puerto Rico

We are planning a trip for the end of August. I would love to get as much info as possible on flights from San Juan to Culebra. Is there a flight schedule? If so, can I book a flight? Any recommendations on lodging (hotel, villas, bed n breakfast)?

Being our first time, any information would help us in planning our vacation. Thank you in advance.

Lynn

Hi Lynn,

We enjoyed Casita Linda (http://www.culebra-island.com/CulebraIsland/Places_to_Stay/culebra_or_sanjuan/casita_linda.htm) very much when we stayed last month. The couple who owns it are wonderful and the rooms are gorgeous, as you can see from the site.

Lynn.... I took a local flight from San Juan to Culebra a couple of years ago for about $100 round trip. I forget which airline, but check out the options by clicking "Getting There" on this website.

yes, fly Air Vieques from San Juan (Isla Grande airport) to Culebra for $100 r/t. Also, be aware – they charge extra money if your bag is overweight (it's not a ton but still, nice to know). The planes are small - 8 people max plus pilot/copilot. I LOVED it but if small planes are not enjoyable for you you might want to try other options. The flight takes about 25/30 minutes in total and in nice weather i found it quite enjoyable.

I just posted info about Bahia Marina resort as a place to stay. just google them, they come right up. very friendly people who run it, great restaurant on the grounds, two pools, balcony in each suite and TWO full bathrooms. Highly recommend it.

Two great restaurants:
• Mamcitas
• Juanita Bananas

You have to take a day trip to Culebrita Island. It's a small nature preserve off the eastern coast of Culebra and you can only get there by private boat. Tons of local people take visitors there pretty much on your schedule. Typically they seem to charge about $50/person for a r/t. Not bad considering gas prices. We had a local guy named 'George' take us. he's listed as something else (can't remember) on the list you get from teh visitors center but many local inns and thigns will have phone numbers of various people you can call. He was great, very helpful and nice.
