My boyfriend and I are coming to Puerto Rico April 28th-May 2nd. We're thinking of coming to Culebra for half or all of our trip. We went to Vieques last year and loved it. We are looking for a hotel that is either on a nice beach or has a pool - with a bar or restaurant within walking distance would be ideal. Any suggestions? Can you give me a rate quote?

Also, if we're in Culebra for 2-5 days, are there snorkel or sailing trips we should book in advance? Any recommendations?

Finally, if we stay in San Juan for a night or two, we'd like a more laid-back, simple hotel. We don't really like the huge high rises with massive casinos etc. Can you suggest a hotel or two that fit this description and let me know if there is availability and what the rate is?

Check out the Coral Princess Inn- in Condado ~$160+ tax /per night -it is small boutique hotel about 3 minutes walk from beach-continental breakfast included- has small pool and hot tub, very pretty intimate courtyard areas inside.

Isla Verde area- Hampton Inn Suites, $155 +tax /per night -nice pool area with swim up bar-good food at the pool grill. Great continental breakfast included. Only negative you hear the planes taking off from the airport, but we didn't mind it, because we were leaving the next day too.

We stayed at the comfort Inn in San Juan. It is an older, simple 8(?)very clean hotel in a wonderful part of San Juan. It is in a very european feeling quiet area steps from the lagoon and 2 blocks to the ocean. With breakfast (continental) included we paid under $100. It has a small courtyard pool and the lady at the desk in the evening was lovely.

Tamarindo Estates on Culebra fits the bill for you. It has 12 bungalows and a pool. It is on a good snorkling pebble beach and very near to the beautiful Flaminco beach. You are very much on your own there. We loved it but had a very unfortunate experience with one pair of the American care-takers. So, if you go, stear clear of the wrong side of them!

Culebra beach villas. They are 125 per night for 2 people. right on the beach. beautiful and quiet.
