if you want to island hop out of PR yes you will need one. but even domestic travel is always easier with a passport as it trumps a DL. currently you're fine (was iffy there a few years back). and for godssake's - E-Ticket! buncha idiot 13 year olds with no idea flying out of SJ fumbling for god-knows-what in front of you at check-in.
