I read that this Monday was a holiday. My husband and I were hoping to catch the 3pm or 7pm ferry from Fajardo on Saturday. Will this be a problem without a reservation? I haven't had much luck with people answering the phone.

About no one answering the phone, that's not unusual. It took me 2 weeks of phone calling to get through to someone. Keep calling, try at different times: morning, noon and afternoon. They usually answer between 8-11 AM and 1-3PM. Do you have the phone #"s: 787- 801-0250 and 0251 Ext. 221, 222, 230, 234. Try these other ones too: 787-863- 0705, 0852 and 787-860- 8618. Once you get through, purchase all of your tickets, round trip with your credit card. They will give you a reference # and then you can pick up your tickets at the window at the Fajardo port on the day of your departure without having to wait in line. There should be a security guard or policeman near the window, just tell him you have already paid for your tickets and need to pick them up. Be sure you have the reference number otherwise you won't be able to get your tickets. Arrive early because even though you have a paid ticket, you could be left behind if they have overbooked or have ferry troubles. Even though this Monday, April 21 is a holiday, Dia de Jose de Diego, the ferry system operates as usual. My advice, try to get tickets in advance. It's a long weekend and many locals may be going to the island for a pre-summer vacation. If you can't, just get there early to secure a ticket for passage. It will be busy on a Saturday of a long weekend. Happy travels! J
