Okay, we've all heard this before but...please don't change Culebra. In 1976 I had the wonderful please of visiting St John. Just about the only place that existed was The Crab Shack. I fell in love. 8 years later I returned and was surprised at what I found...too much stuff. I continued to go for many years, but finally I just had enough of - too much stuff. About 13 or 14 years ago I visited Culebra and got that wonderful feeling I had when I first visited St. John. I have visited about 8 times since and will be there the end of this month. Why do I go? Because there isn't a lot of stuff. I don't need Burger King or a shopping mall or a fancy club to entertain me. I can sit on a porch and watch the bananaquits fight over sugar water or walk the beautiful white beach on Flaminco or snorkel in that beautiful Caribbean water with schools of blue tangs. If Myara's or the Superetta are out of what I'm looking for, well there's always tomorrow or I just take what is available. The island is charming in it's own right, and the Culebrences are some of the most pleasant and polite people I've ever encountered. Breakfast??? Spread your business around and get to know all the wonderful people who live there! And that's all I have to say about that as I count down the days!
