Frank, I agree with not trying to change Culebra into something else. That is the draw for us....the laid back feeling and warmth we get when we are there. The one thing with traveling is that we want to live much like the people who live on the island all the time. We like the "no frills" approach to vacationing. Someone once posted that Culebra isn't for the faint of heart but for someone who enjoys experiences.
We have never found the people on the island rude and who can stay up for 24 hours anyway. We love getting up early, taking a morning swim, hiking into beaches and on and on.
Anyway, I am rambling.... don't change anything on Culebra PLEASE
