low cost accomodations

I have read that next to camping, Hotel Puerto Rico is the least expensive place to stay. I have called Hotel Puerto Rico 3 times a day for the last 3 days. Each time, no one has answered the phone. The only time someone did answer, she said the person who takes reservations doesn't come in until later. Is it always so hard to make reservations there?

Can anyone recommend other low cost hotels (i.e. $80 or less/night) in Culebra? For the time slot I'm visitng (March 15 - 18), Mamacita's is costing $125/night. thanks for any info.

Hotel Kokomo and Culebra Ocean View have rooms for 60 and 80 a night and you can book them online - calling people in Culebra can be a challenge ...

Thanks. I was able to get a standard double at Hotel Kokomo for $60/night...and really conveniently, as that hotel is bookable online.

Juat came from Culebra and stayed a Kokomo. It was excellent. PLace is very nice and near almost everything. You can just jump of the Ferry and there you are. I highly recomend it.

you can try hotel kokomo about $45 to $65 a night. the rooms are small but if you're out all day it doesn't matter. the only problem is it's in the middle of a construction zone so if you may be awakened by jackhammers at 7 a.m. mind you culebra is not a late town, so we were up early anyway.
