waiting on accomodations til arrive
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hello
A friend and I are traveling to Culebra during the last week in February. We've had a difficult time finding any availability at the beach villa's we had set out sites on (Flamenco and Culebra Beach Villas). So we were thinking of just waiting until we arrived in Culebra to find accomodations. Many "Shelters" listed on this site do not have a link or email contacts, and we'd rather see a place before jumping into a week rental. We are thinking also that if we brought a tent, at the very least we could tent it at the campground. Is this too foolish in our thinking? Culebra seems to be a small spot and a much desired destination. And what with Feb being the beginning of the peak season, are we going to find no shelter near a beach available when we arrive?
Thanks for your advice.

I have been to Culebra twice and stayed both times at Casa Ensenda. They have a link on this website. Pequeno is adequate for two people (a coulple) one queen size bed. Although this facility isn't on the beach it is near Flamenco and you can step outside your hotel and catch vans that transport people to the beach and back to town. It costs about $2.00. Casa Ensenada is not on a beach but it is on the bay with a beautiful back yard/deck area. They rent boats right there or have a free kayak to use. If you have more questions, feel free to email me. I see from your email you are a Dartmouth person and Butch Pendergast, the owner of Casa Ensenda is an Dartmouth alum! I am close by you at Vermont Law School so feel free to email me here with other questions.
