A chironja is a hybrid of an orange and a grapefruit- tastes like a sweet grapefruit- no tartness. Used to be more common here, but they are a treat now.
I know a good stand on Rt 3 in Canovanas, but you won't pass it if you take Rt 66. You will pass the Amigo supermarket- they usually some unusual tropicals- pineapple guava, mamey zapotes, cherimoya etc.
Across the way from the Amigo there is a stand that is sometimes open.
You will find something.
