If you want to stay somewhere amazing for a good price and right on the beach, seriously consider Villa Flamenco Beach.
My parents, roommate and I stayed there April 25 - May 2 and it was the best vacation ever. Villa Flamenco Beach is located right next to Culebra Beach Villas, but it is much quieter and cleaner.
Max, Esmeralda and Johnny were amazing hosts and kept the place so clean that you could eat off the floor. There are 6 apartments all equiped with kitchens so you can make your lunches to take to the beach. There is also a grill outside surrounded by tables and a couple hammocks. They have a couple boogey boards to use for free as well as free lawn chairs whereas you have to pay for them if you stay at Culebra Beach Villas.
Every morning I woke up at 7 a.m. and proceeded straight to the beach for a swim and then I sat on a lawn chair reading a book until the rest of my family woke up.
Every afternoon we packed lunches or ate at Pan Deli in town. Then we explored a new beach and new snorkeling. Carlos Rosario is worth the little walk because the reef was very healthy and we even saw two turtles.
We drove over to Costa Bonita to check it out and it looked sort of deserted but not in a good way. It also looked half finished.
If I had to stay somwhere besides Villa Flamenco Beach, I would choose Bahia Marina because they had amazing food when we went there to eat. They also had great views and a nice pool. However, I loved the aspect of waking up and walking onto the beach even before anyone was up and moving for the day.
Tamarindo Beach Cottages looked cute and their pool also looked nice, but we didn't eat there or really check them out.
Wherever you choose, you will have a great vacation because Culebra is the best place we have ever visited! The nice people and amazing beaches make the island a spectacular vacation destination.
