Places to Stay
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone has information about the following places to stay: Melones Beach House, Casablanca 6 Condo, and the Tamarindo Estates. We (two people) are not looking at spending a lot and plan to mostly use the beach and relax in a quiet atmosphere. Any suggestions, comments?
Thanks!
John

I am pretty sure you can book Melones and Casablanca (Turtles Nest?) through Culebra Vacation Planners. Their web site is www.allvacationreservations.com and put Culebra in City, then click on Culebra Vacation Planners Rentals. Any questions give them a call, they were really helpful when we were planning our trip!

Hello John and Susan,

Casablanca 6 and Turtles Nest (#3) are two different places. We are the owners of Turtles Nest (#3), www.culebraturtlesnest.com. They are both part of the same 8 unit condo complex, but owned separately. All of the units at Casablanca condos are privately owned, and Turtles Nest (#3) and #6 are available to rent as vacation units. We use Vacation Planners to manage Turtles Nest, and #6 is separately operated. You can use each of our web sites to compare amenaties and price, but they are exactly the same size with a mirror image floor plan. Turtles Nest is a ground floor unit with a private patio, #6 is an upstairs unit.

I hope this helped,

Wade and Theresa

I love Tamarindo Estates. Yes, the beach cottages are a little pricier than other places, but you have the benefit of a pool, excellent snorkeling right off their beach, beautiful views, a video library, and a very helpful staff. The setting is very tranquil.

I guess Tamarindo depends on what you are looking for. It is a long walk to the beach, and beach is rock and coral so maybe not to great for kids. Cottages are nice, with a great view as they are up on a hillside. Snorkeling is great and the pool is nice. They are not "beachfront" as the add states tho. There is also no restaurant or bar there as they lost their chef to Bahia Marina from what I heard. Our friends stayed there for the past 2 weeks while we stayed at Villa Flamenco Beach. We weren't allowed to visit them as we had planned, Tammarindo is pretty strict about visitors. They were however able to visit us at Flamenco for a few wonderful meals we cooked on the grill there. We all decided that the next visit we would stay there. The apartments are cleaned and there is new linen about every 3 days, vs only linen on demand at Tamarindo. We had a wonderful beach right in front of us and a wonderful breeze of the ocean to keep us cool and comfortable. Our friends at Tamarindo had to use the air conditioning to sleep at all. We loved Max and Esmeralda our hosts, who made our stay a pleasant and memorable experience, and were always willing to help with whatever we needed. I have pictures from both places, let me know if I can help. Loved Culebra!!! Jean

Take a look at http://www.virtualculebra.com/accomodations.htm for a virtual tour of some of the accommodations on the island.

Enjoy Culebra
