Day trip to Culebra?
Culebra, Puerto Rico

My family and I have booked a week in San Juan in August. Culebra sounds beautiful, but can we see much of the island on a day trip? How difficult would it be to rent a car on the island so we could check out a few different beaches? Or would you advise to stick within walking distances of the ferry dock? Thanks!

Hi, Scott. If you really would like to enjoy Culebra and see all it can offer, you need more than a day to do so. One day is not sufficient to visit and fully enjoy the charming places of Culebra like its beautiful beaches (from Flamenco to Zoni), cays (Cayo Luis Peña), multiple diving and fishing spots, natural pool (Culebrita), hiking trails, museum, the new art gallery, boat rides (including a glass bottom boat) and town (giftshops and restaurants). There are taxies on town, but a rental car will provide you with a more flexible means of transportation. We hope to see you soon for more than a day.

If you check out the ferry schedule, you will find out that you do not have enough time to do anything. But the hour sail is sure enjoyable.

The ferry leave Fajardo at 9:30 am and return at 11:30 am. So where do you fine time to do anything. Beside keep in mind the ferry is not always on time. Hope you have a nice time at Jan Juan. I did.

A positive note on the schudle. It is a far better deal to do the sailing for $55 per person.
