The gringo word is is not an offensive term for foreigners is just the way to call americans from united state. gringo means gri- come from green- go from the verb to go in the war between mexico and united states for texas the troops from u.s they use to call greengo to move up and the mexican since then any time they see somebody from u.s they ask if they are gringos or from other country that's all. is like for you americans are only people from u.s that not true from canada thru argentina everybody are an american because belongs to america , but in europe people call americans just the people from u.s because in the 1800's and 1900's most of the travelers us to be from u.s.thanks
