Toddler Activities in Culebra

I am very excited to return to Culebra next week, for my fourth visit. My wife and I will be introducing our 18 months old to the island. Although I follow this forum fairly closely, I don't remember any recent discussion about toddler fun in Culebra. Of course, it goes without saying that she will enjoy (we hope) the beaches, Dewey, etc... but I was wondering whether others with a similar experience might have some other ideas to suggest?

Last time we were in town (two years ago) we saw the "new" playground by the school. That will probably be fun for her.

Are there other toddler activities anyone would suggest? Is there a public library with children's book? Any other playground in a less obvious location that we may not have come across?

Are any of you loyal posters/readers involved in small children's groups or the like?

thanks for any ideas you may all have.

Josh, I changed the title of your post - if this doesn't get you answers, I don't know ;)

Haven't seen a bored toddler on the island yet!

Enjoy Culebra!

Michael

We were in Culebra last spring and celebrated our son's second birthday there. I don't have any specific activities to share, the beach and outdoors kept him going. We prefer to buy all our supplies on the island. Just wanted to share that the one thing we couldn't find in any of the stores (and we tried many) were disposable swim diapers. Might be something to bring from home. Sadly, we're taking a year off from Culebra since we have a newborn. But hoping to return next year with two toddlers! Have a great trip!

My son is a bit older (going on 5yrs old), but for the week we were there, he enjoyed playing in the surf (with close supervision of course), building sand castles (lots of sunscreen!! Use SPF 50, he got burned a bit with 30) and just running around the camping area. He liked chasing the chickens and the mourning doves... I don't think he was ever 'bored' and fell asleep very quickly after the sun went down, but I would advise bringing some easy travel toys to cover any 'down time' you might have.

My son brought his Innotab and a coloring book with markers (the type that only show up on special paper) and that was enough to keep him occupied when he couldn't enjoy one of the other activities I mentioned. Be advised though, that there ARE scorpions in the trees... they tend to live in the nooks and crannies, knotholes and such. There are biting/stinging 'fire ants' (spraying the feet with bug spray seemed to help keep them off) and there are spiny seed pods to step on with bare feet. So, just use a few precautions and you folks should be golden! Enjoy and good luck. :)
