Swim from Culebra to Vieques?

Ok, I desperately need a lift on 8/12 from Culebra to Vieques, and am wondering if my only two options are swimming or building a raft from bamboo? Capt. Luis is off the island on the 12th, and I can't find anyone with a boat willing to taxi for a fare. As this is a Sunday, the airlines are completely non-commital. Can anyone offer some advice here . . . or a boat?

You can take the ferry to Fajardo and then on to Vieques.

Contact the ferry office and see how to do it that way. If the layover is intolerable in Fajardo, see what flights from Fajardo to Vieques are doing that day. BTW, you can probably charter a flight for the price of a boat charter.

I kind of like the raft idea, personally. Then you can just stay here and do that for a living. I'd be a passenger.
(I did the ferry here/Fajardo/Vieques...went at 1 was in Vieques before 4, with only about 15 minutes between the two. It wasn't as bad as I dreaded it would be. Bring a good book, water and something to use as a pillow - and hey, it's a super cheap deal, riding on a boat on beautiful waters...)
