Do expect a wait in SJ, but your pilot will be quite professional, if it's late in the day the gate agent may join you (often does double duty at counter and plane)
Keep your camera handy, great views. And depending on demand there may be a very brief stop on Vieques.
I was scared crapless the first time, but it's always been fine and very smooth. They follow a line of cayos out to the island, so even if (god forbid) the worst happens, you're never far from land.
I hate flying too.
