We will also be first time visitors (in two weeks) and we are staying at Villa Boheme which was recommended to us. It sounds like it might fit your needs but I am not sure about stairs, not having been there. The proximity to places to eat and drink and the view with a hammock seem to be there. I think they have a larger unit that would work for three- check their website if you have not done so already. Good luck.
