The architecture isn't really what I was talking about...it was more about safety. I travel by myself most of the time and sometimes planes get in late so that is when I was told it would be a pretty bad idea to stay at Hotel Delicias.
Once, eager to get home and landing long after planes or ferries were running, I took a publico to the ferry dock from SJ, getting there about 2 a.m. figuring to take the cargo ferry and be home faster.
The taxi driver was VERY reluctant to leave me there but I said, nah, I'll be fine. I think I'd taken about five steps when the security guy came over to me, picked up my bag, unlocked the ferry departure lounge and was pretty adament about me staying inside, for my own safety. Soon after, some friends showed up who were going to take the cargo ferry with their vehicle, so I could hang out with them outside (I'm not a very inside sort of person). So...long explanation to say, funky is cool, dangerous is not ;)
