Abe,

That is so not true I had service in July of this year and on my calling plan I can call to and from puerto rico for free because it is in my "home area" even if you look at their maps of their coverage puerto rico is clearly stated as part of their coverage map.

Maybe call verizon directly or see if you can talk to the store manager.
