If you sift through the posts on here, you'll detect a heavy bias, from Culebra regulars like myself, against Costa Bonita. It was built by folks whose vision for Culebra is to become another Cancun. Wise use of resources and respect for neighbors had no place in its business plan.
Additionally, non-availability of a large low-wage workforce has apparently kept it from ever getting any momentum as a viable full service resort; yet I'm told that expansion plans are underway. I'm also told that more than a few bankruptcies have come from this place. Go figure.
If large bustling beach resort is your desire, Cancun is already a tried and true success in that genre. The reason to come to Culebra is that it has managed to resist going down that road.
The dive shops are in town. Most of the guest accommodationse near town are somewhat modest, yet comfortable. The most upscale would be the villas out near Zoni.
Hope you find this helpful...
