I have to jump in on this one. There is one reason and one only why you don't bring a rental car on the ferry. As soon as it is loaded on the boat all insurance coverage is nul and void! That includes any that you purchased when renting, the coverage your credit card provides and your own personal coverage. If you break it you buy it outright.
