Open forums like this are meant to offer opinions, and opinions vary. Not everyone that stays at CBV is going to love it. In fact, on my first trip to Culebra in 2000, we dived with a couple that was staying there, and the man LOVED CBV, and the woman HATED it. This forum is valuable in that persons can form their own opinion after reading various reports.
I respect your opinion that persons that live on the island are Culebrense, but that's not how I would classify all residents. To me, only those born and/or raised on Culebra are Culebrenses. Using your definition, I hope to be a Culebrense one day. :)
I respect your opinion that this forum discourages tourism, but there are some of us that don't want to encourage tourism. When I first visited 5 years ago, I knew that I must one day live there full time. If there is a Hyatt and Marriott and a W on every corner, then it is not going to be the kind of place I want to visit. That is not to say that my posts on this forum are meant to discourage tourism; rather, my posts are meant to paint a real picture. If you have lived in the mainland States, you will know that there are many well-off Americans that could ruin Culebra for the rest of us.
My hope is that this forum provides enough information to encourage persons that love this type of island to visit, and keeps away the high-strung, type A personalities that must have the best of the best, and have the ability to turn my favorite island into "just another island".
