Rental Car on Culebra

I plan to be making a trip out there on 3/26 for the day taking the 9am ferry and coming back on the 4:30pm ... while on the island will I be needing a car or is it possible to walk to a bunch of the beaches without wasting alot of time? First time on the island so I don't know how large the island is.
