I heard some people speculate about runoff from construction sites, but that could all be politically motivated and I do not remember the source. Listen to Radio Vieques (on the net) and they might have more theories! - consider the source and weigh in ulterior motives, maybe it just stopped. I also feel there are wayyy less fireflies than in my youth ...
