I have kayaked to both Culebrita and Louis Penia. Mostly in the Spring and summer when the winds are down. This coming Monday the winds are forecasted for 4 knts all day so that may be a good time. I do not kayak out there on the weekends due to all of the large boat traffic. It's a mile to either island but as noted, a whole lot can go wrong quickly. When you get into the channel heading to LP the large swells come through from the North. Just be aware of your capablities. Be safe and have fun!
