If the phone is down then the credit card machines don't work, and phones go down fairly often. Last time we were there a couple of stores told us to come back the next day to make our purchase if we needed to use a credit card, in hopes that their phone would be fixed by then. Of course, Jerry's trusty side of the pencil rubbed over the card to make an impression works regardless of phones or power being out!
