Yes, the lava flow blocking the road has subsided and as of late January when we were there, they have carved a passage that allows one person at a time to pass through. On the other hand there is a giant sink hole that opened up on Culebrita that swallowed the lighthouse. That doesn't affect the weather conditions adversely. It usually doesn't snow in May and June, so you should see the sun.
