Add all the beaches on the leeward (west) side of the island. They include, from north to south, Carlos Rosario, Tamarindo, Melones, and Punta Soldado. Soldado is also a bit of a walk unless you have a high clearance/4wd vehicle. Leeward-side surf is normally much gentler and the reefs, particularly at Carlos Rosario, are much less beat up.
