Distance from San Juan Airport to Fajardo is about 1 hour, however, this is using private transportation. I'm not sure how long it will take using public transportation. Personally- I do not recommend it. Perhaps you can rent a car on the mainland, there are many beautiful places to see in Puerto Rico, for example : El Yunque, Las Cavernas de Camuy, etc. check out the following website- www.gotopuertorico.com it's great. I've lived in PR for 25 years and I love it!
