Hi Nancy. The bike riding on Culebra is rugged. I actually think the ride to Flamenco from town is one of the preferable rides...from town you can ride to Melones also, though you might want to walk your bike partway on the way home. the ride to Zoni beach is hard going...many serious hills and almost no shade. Other might disagree, but I think fat tires are way over-rated for Culebra's terrain..you want a lightweight bike with thin tires, and always be looking for thorny sticks and branches along the road. Wear a hat!
