That's better! You gave more specifics in your follow-up post. I'm not close enough to the scene to comment one way or another, but I think that you have presented your case a little more thoroughly now.
Whoever becomes the next mayor, I hope that they maintain the things about Culebra that I love so much. But I realize that I'm heavily biased because I don't really want much progress at all. I like that Culebra is a throwback to an earlier, simpler time.
As far as violence and crime is concerned, it's a worldwide problem. There are less and less places where you can get away from it.
If Culebra wants more revenues, that means more tourists, bigger ferries, more commercialization, more developers, etc. And with all that comes more crime. It's an unfortunate fact of life in modern times.
