Robert, I think you're wise to take this into account. One man's rooster is another man's ROOSTER.

A couple years ago, my neighbor raised a baby chicken that turned out to be a rooster. She grew attached to it and would not easily give it up.

It's the closest that my wife and I have ever come to plotting murder (of both the rooster AND the neighbor). Finally, after a couple months, she found another home for it.

I've only stayed near town for one night, and the roosters are still a bad memory. However, the other two people who were with me weren't bothered at all.

I like Jeannie's idea of putting a head on a pike. True, it's gratuitous violence, but it sends a message to the other roosters.
