Well, the howler monkeys are intermittent and only at dusk and dawn. The roosters on Culebra go 24/7. You'll be just about asleep in the hammock at 2 in the afternoon, and one will walk through the yard and start cackling. When one starts, they all start. Sometimes I wake at 2 am in the morning, and I realize it's the dead silence that woke me up, and then a rooster CROWS. They are noisy and annoying, and if you don't think you guys can take it, then Culebra's not the place for you. If you are a light sleeper, you will go home more exhausted than when you arrived. It's happened to me numerous times. :-(
