Unfortunately very often, even in the States, recycling programs are an eyewash. When you have to spend more carbon fuels to collect (or in this matter bring) the recyclables we might be better of just NOT USING SO MUCH!

Recycling is in my (extreme) opinion a way for 1st world people to feel good about themselves. Reuse is the name of the game. If you can use the same bottle 10 times instead of 'recycling it' - often at a higher cost than making it in the first place - then you are making an impact.</rant>
