I'm no crunchy-feely type, but the local (here) organic store has this stuff called neem oil that is a topical, after the fact, dropper (think eyedropper-size) that immediately cuts the itching for all sorts of bug bites.

we get lots of mosquitos, chiggers and what have you up here in summer - always works. did down there too.
