We have only been to Culebra in Feb. and March and no real problems with mosquitos. Deet worked just fine. No problem during the day at the beach or even walking in town. We even hiked to Carlos Rosario and didn't have any bug problems. There are some red ants at Tamarindo and they do bite if you are not careful.

There is no such thing as a bad vacation. Some are just better than others.
