"Sailing is definitely wonderful, but it's incredibly expensive to own a boat, especially a catamaran. Just before we arrived, the mainsail had been ripped in a storm. Cost: tens of thousands. His new wind generator had also just broken. And while we were on the boat, an impeller failed. Just about every day some new problem comes up. I could never afford it... either the money or the time! But I'm sure grafeful that my friend can!"

I have a boat owning friend who insists that BOAT stands for Break Out Another Thousand...
