So you're cool with bears, but rats bug you? surely there are opportunistic rodents in AK - frankly I'd rather startle a rodent than a bear of any variety.
last time I had bears snuffling around my tent I was petrified (that was on a long backpack in NM so I prob. didn't smell so good either - 'cept bears find gamey tasty, right?)
I want/like to think of rats (if they are on Flamenco) like the hagfish that groom sharks... or the birds on hippos.
I'd be more concerned with the no-see-ums.
the kiosks serve in the middle part of the day (say 10 -3 to be safe-ish or maybe even 9-4) but not New Years day and some other holidays. but there's a nice variety.
others here will have better info, but I had to comment on the fauna (a mouse showed up in my kitchen this week 'cause of the cold and the little SOB keeps skipping the trap...).
